Don't worry there is a very handy video I created that will help you!

    how to arm knit
  • Why is merino wool so expensive?

Merino wool is a luxury fibre and has many amazing qualities:

    - hypoallergenic

    - eco-friendly

    - sustainable

    - flame retardant

    - breathable

    - reacts to body temperature

    - water, stain & odour resistant

    - self cleansing.

It is super soft and cosy and makes a statement piece for your living room or bedroom.

  • Where do you get your wool from?

I source all my wool from a Yorkshire wool textile business who purchase the wool from South Africa (Cape) or South America from non-mulesed flocks.

  • Which wool do you use?

Blankets, cushions and wreaths are knitted from 100% pure merino wool (23 micron).

Bobble hats and headbands are made from chunky knit merino wool.

  • I’m a complete beginner – are your workshops suitable?

Yes, my class sizes are kept deliberately small so that I can offer 1:1 assistance

  • Do I need to bring anything with me?

I recommend no jewellery as a ring can snag the wool.

Wear a top that you can easily push your sleeves up – your arms are literally your needles!

    Refreshments and toilets are available.

  • Will I finish my blanket in the workshop?

Yes, in the workshop I will teach you step by step how to knit and care for your beautiful blanket.

You will go home with a 30” x 50” pure merino wool blanket (RRP £140)

  • What colours do you have?

You will select your colour of pure merino wool from the fabulous range of options on booking, I need to know your choice at least 2 weeks in advance of the workshop so as to ensure I have it prepared and ready for you on the workshop.

  • What is your refund policy if I can not make the workshop I have booked?

All bookings are final and non-refundable unless cancelled by Allybobsknits as I will have purchased the wool especially for you.

However, you will be able to transfer you booking to another workshop date.

  • Can I book a private class for a group of friends?

Absolutely! If you have a group of 6 – 8 people and a space of your own with a large table and chairs, I can come to you, please email me to arrange.

  • What about Covid?

Please do not attend the workshop if you or your household are positive for Covid, contact me as soon as possible and I will transfer you to a workshop on a later date.

  • Where are the workshops located?

The workshops are usually around the Lancashire area, around the Ribble Valley.

    All have ample car parking.

  • Can I purchase a gift voucher for the workshop?

Yes, if you would like to purchase a gift voucher to the value of the workshop please let me know so that I can forward you the voucher for the lucky recipient who can then contact me to book on a workshop and let me know their chosen colour of pure merino wool.

  • Treat with care

Pure merino wool is a luxury product therefore it should be treated with respect (don't let the children or pets play on it).

  • Will the blankets/cushions pill or shed their wool?

Initially, you may get some shedding and this is a natural process.

It will settle down into its new home the fibres will begin to felt together and shedding will reduce overtime.

Pilling also occurs with heavier use as the fibres rub together and felt.

  • How do I wash my blanket/cushion?

Merino wool is self cleansing and so I recommend spot cleaning with cold water.

Give your blanket a shake regularly to re-plump and re-shape.

If absolutely necessary take for specialist cleaning.

  • Hand felting the wool

Before I knit a product in pure merino wool, I always lightly hand felt the wool which makes it more durable in the home.

  • How do I look after my blanket/cushion?

Carefully shake your blanket / cushion and then with your hands or sharp scissors gently snip off the fluffy bobbles of wool and then smooth the stitches down.
